Harold Gregory Moore
Harold (Hal) Gregory Moore (1922–2017) is a graduate of West Point, a master parachutist and an army aviator. During the war in Korea he commanded two infantry companies. Later, already in Vietnam, he headed the 1st Battalion of the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the 3rd Brigade of the 1st Cavalry (Airborne) Division, and the aforementioned brigade after the battle in the valley of Ia Drang. In 1977, he retired having had 32 years of service and founded a software development company. The Astrolabe Publishing published his memoirs We were soldiers once… and young coauthored with Joseph G. Galloway in Ukrainian translation.
