Thomas Edward Lawrence

Thomas Edward Lawrence (1888‒1935), a British archaeologist, military officer, diplomat and writer. He played a prominent role during the Sinai and Palestine Campaign in 1915‒1918 and the Arab Revoltin 1916‒1918. From 1919 to 1922, he was engaged in the preparation of a peaceful settlement of the Middle East issue. He was awarded the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, the Distinguished Service Order, the Order of the Legion of Honour and the Military Cross. He is the author of two books of memoirs (Seven Pillars of Wisdom, The Mint), a two-volume study Crusader Castles and a prose translation of Homer’s Odyssey. The Astrolabe Publishing is currently preparing to print his book of memories Seven Pillars of Wisdom.
