Janusz Głowacki

Janusz Głowacki (1938–2017) — a Polish prose writer, dramatist, screenwriter. He became well-known thanks to his screenplay for the comedy Polish movie The Cruise. After imposing martial law he leaves Poland and lives at first in London and since 1983 in New York. His dramatical piece Cinders, represented for the first time on the stage of Royal Court Theatre, cleared the way for him to the best known theatres of the world. He taught in Columbia University, Bennington College and Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida. The Astrolabe Publishing produced his autobiographical novel Off the Top of My Head in Oleksandr Irvanets’s translation.
