Maksym Rylsky Prize to the translator of Dante’s Divine Comedy
On 18 March 2015 Committee for Maksym Rylsky Prize of Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided this year’s winner. The prize went to a well-known Ukrainian scientist, poet, social activist, professor of Translation Department of Humanitarian Institute of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics Maksym Strikha: for translation of the first part of Dante’s Divine Comedy named Hell published by the Astrolabe Publishing.
Prose writers and poets are honored with this prestige annual prize for their translations of distinguished foreign authors’ works into Ukrainian as well as for translations of Ukrainian classic and modern authors’ works into languages of peoples of the world. Maksym Strikha was nominated for this award by Maksym Rylsky Kyiv Literary and Memorial Museum. It should be reminded that the translator was awarded for this book with Lauro Dantesco in Ravenna in 2013.
