UKRAINE MAGIC CUBE – A GLIMPSE INTO UKRAINIAN LITERATURE

The project is part of the unique multilingual web anthology BABEL MATRIX, which has been operating since 2004 and presents works of national literatures of Europe that are less represented on the European book market.

The project UKRAINE MAGIC CUBE – A GLIMPSE INTO UKRAINIAN LITERATURE focuses on Ukrainian literature, making it a bright element of the web anthology. It aims to increase the visibility of Ukrainian literature by making outstanding Ukrainian literary works and their translations available on a multilingual web platform.

By displaying texts together with their translations in a matrix format, the project contributes to the international recognition of works and authors, and also draws attention to the important role played by translators. The project also seeks to create new opportunities for publishers from smaller European countries to gain access to the international book market.

At the moment, it is about presenting Ukrainian works of art and their authors in at least three languages: German and/or Polish and Hungarian. We hope that over time, publishers and translators from all over Central and Eastern Europe will discover the opportunities offered by the platform and join our circle in the UKRAINIAN MAGIC CUBE and BABEL MATRIX. But most importantly, we hope that our initiative will pave the way for the integration of Ukrainian culture into the diverse European cultural landscape.

The project is based on works submitted by several Ukrainian publishers participating in the cooperation. These works were selected based on their literary value, as determined by the project participants.

Currently, over 250 excerpts from selected Ukrainian works and over 450 translations are available for viewing. Publisher profiles and author biographies have also been added, allowing European readers, literary agents, and publishers to gain a deeper understanding of Ukrainian culture!
