Winnetou IІ: A novel (Translated by Natalka Snyadanko) Karl May
Winnetou II is a sequel of the adventurous cycle by the well-known German writer Karl May (1842–1912) about the Mescalero Apache chieftain Winnetou. Events of the cycle take place in the second half of the 19th century in the USA during colonization of the Wild West. In this part Old Shatterhand, after finishing his mission, tries to return to his motherland, however, having narrow escape a shipwreck, he had to stay in America. In New York he landed a job with a private detective agency and set out southward in search of a well-known American banker’s son kidnapped by a swindler. In a long journey he had to reckon with gangsters as well as kluxers, emerge the winner in the struggle against the Comanche and Sioux tribes, find new friends and, of course, meet again his redskin sworn brother Winnetou who remained in search of a killer of his father and sister — Santer.
