National Dimension of Public Being Antonina Kolodii
On the basis of contemporary achievements in the field of national studies, taking into account challenges that confront Ukrainian nation after reaching independence, the author tries to clear up issues that concern the nature, ways of emergence and typology of nations, content of nationalism and its correlation with ideology of liberalism, possible theoretical background of the ethnic/national policy able to ensure consolidation of Ukrainian civic nation. The emphasis is laid on the idea that there is a sharp need to create favorable conditions for the emergence of common national identity for all citizens of Ukraine — notwithstanding their ethnic origins, socio-cultural, regional and political differences.
