Problems of Ethnic Profiling in the Policing: The Analysis of Modern Western Literature

This publication synthesizes leading international research on the problems that arise in policing from the singling out of persons by their ethnic identity. Its authors consider the sources of ethnic profiling, its most common definitions, and the results of recent research on ethnic profiling in the USA, Canada and European countries. A separate chapter is dedicated to methods of counteracting ethnic profiling, with a special focus on mechanisms of civil control over policing and on efficient forms of cooperation between the police and population.
