The fate of two families (the Krushelnytski family and the Levytski family) are presented in the book as a drama and tragedy of the Galician intelligentsia in the 20th century. Besides that, the memoirs are filled with optimism and faith in the potential capacities of the nation, in its intellectual power and moral foundations. The book also gives literary portraits of author’s contemporaries, her essays and sketches published in different times and in the different editions.
