In the book, the fate of two families, Krushelnytskyis and Levytskyis, shows the drama and tragedy of the Galician intelligentsia in the 20th century. Nevertheless, the memories are filled with optimism and faith in human potentialities, intellectual power and moral principles. Also literary portraits of contemporaries of the author, her essays and sketches, published at different times and in various editions, are presented.
