Ukrainian Women’s Movement in Ukraine During the Interwar Period: Between Gender Identity and National Engagement

The book focuses on a Ukrainian Woman’s Union — one of the biggest feminist organization in Europe — on its way to resocialization or, in other words, to changing gender stereotypes in historical environment of Galicia in 1914–1939. An author examines the establishment of Ukrainian women’s movement, its structure and participation in social and political processes of that time: its interaction with some political parties and public organizations, its contribution into development of the parliamentary system and consolidation of Ukrainian society etc. A textual part of the book is richly illustrated by the original cartoons that will help its readers to understand the that time perception of the Ukrainian feminist movement in Galicia.
