Goldilocks and Other Czech Fairy Tales

Karel Jaromír Erben

This is a classic collection of Czech folk tales that was compiled by the famous Czech poet, prose writer and folklorist Karel Jaromír Erben (1811–1870). The collection is the starting edition of the Fairy Tale’s Mystery book series by Astrolabe Publishers and is firstly introduced to Ukrainian readers. Being under the influence of well-known German Romantics Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm, Erben gathered these fairy stories among Czech farmers and rearrange them, freeing them from those layers that inevitably arise in centuries-old tradition. Actually, he shaped the stories in a form that survived to this day. Ukrainian design of the book is based on the classic illustrations of the famous Czech graphic Artuš Scheiner (1863–1938).
