The events of the historical novel (1953) by the famous Japanese writer take place in the sixteenth century. This period, known in history as Sengoku Jidai, the era of the Wars, ended with the unification of the country. The protagonist, a brilliant and ambitious warrior named Kansuke Yamamoto, becomes the chief strategist of the legendary military leader Shingen Takeda. For two decades, he fights alongside the prince in all his battles. Kansuke’s deep understanding of the military art and his unwavering loyalty to Shingen help the latter to fulfil his ambition to unite the Japanese lands. This is the first Ukrainian translation of a Japanese historical novel. For anyone interested in the history, culture, and military arts of medieval Japan, as well as for fans of historical fiction.
