1865. The American Civil War is coming to an end. Eighteen years after the ship Star of the Sea docked in New York with Irish passengers on board, the daughter of two of the passengers sets off on foot across a devastated America in search of a boy, one of hundreds of thousands of children caught up in the war. This journey will touch the lives of many people: a poetess who worked as a nurse, a guerrilla rebel, a one-time enslaved woman, a cartographer in love and a desperate revolutionary who commanded a brigade of Irish immigrants in the Union army and later became acting governor. Redemption Falls is a story of war and forgiveness, of strangers in a strange land, and of love put to the ultimate test. A fascinating historical no vel from the author of the bestselling Star of the Sea.
